RAAY Sports Day

“Sports teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose-it teaches you about life.” –Billie Jean King

Amongst great furor we celebrated the Annual Sports Day at our RAAY Center for Special Needs, Parel. The staff meticulously planned the event to include games and activities for the children as well as the parents. The idea behind designing the games was to encourage physical activity in our children and instill values of teamwork and camaraderie.

We commenced the program by felicitating Principal Sunil Burkul of Sitaram Compound Municipal School. He very graciously agreed to get a squad of his school children to assist our staff during the event bringing a sense of exchange between the children of both the schools. The star attraction of the event was the “Lezim” played by the children of the Sitaram School. It ramped up the energy of the event manyfold.

After the sprightly performance, began the games and activities for the children. Children were grouped based on their age. Volunteers and the staff were by the side at all times to encourage them to don their best hat on. Some of the games that were conducted included Lemon & Spoon, Back Walking, Throw Ball, Hoops and so on. The most eventful race was the three-legged race participated by the parents. It was entertaining and fun for the parents as they unleashed the child within them.

The day concluded with all our stars being felicitated for their efforts. It was a moment of pride and joy for the parents to see their kids up on the dais with a medal. The snacks served in the end was more relishing for the kids after a tiring day!
