Tata Mumbai Marathon

It was a chilly winter morning in January 2020, the whole of Mumbai had gathered down to celebrate the city’s biggest festival the Tata Mumbai Marathon. It was the first time that the RAAY Foundation team planned to run the Dream Run segment in the Marathon to raise awareness for the cause of social inclusion of differently-abled in mainstream society. RAAY Foundation has been at the forefront of the cause with its Center for differently-abled children from low-income strata of the society. It was a badge of honor for the team and the donors to represent the beneficiaries.

A week before the Marathon, teeming with excitement we had stocked up with all new pairs of running gears. All of us being amateurs at running, even the 5 kms segment of the Dream Run seemed like a daunting task. The excitement reached a crescendo on the day of the Marathon. It was a sea of colour & pomp. People of all walks & ages had gathered espousing the true cosmopolitan Mumbaikar spirit. The Dream Run being the exhibition segment of the Marathon, it had runners from various NGOs running for causes championed by them. It was a carnival out there, an apt event to create a milestone. Instead of just running we laughed, clicked pictures & danced our way to the finish line. The day will forever be etched in our memory.
