RAAY Foundation-Capacity Building, a one-year long project from 2017-2018 was a successful intervention that enabled leaders to strategically identify the complex gaps, to thrive, and maximize the impact of the programs implemented by their NGOs. Organizations in the social sector face challenges not only around funding but also around scaling up and organization development. This program was much-needed support where we identified organizations that have a great vision, mission, and passion and equipped them with process expertise, skills, frameworks, and networks so they could strategically scale-up and impact more lives.

The project aimed to strengthen the overall organizational and programmatic practices of NGOs through capacity building interventions after conducting robust NGO needs assessments. Our program focused on multiple aspects of organization building such as strategy, project management, fundraising, and impact assessment.
Eight verticals under which RAAY Foundation provided non-financial support to NGOs for their capacity building:
Basics: Developmental Approach and Aim

- Communication
Pre-vocational Training
RAAY Foundation in partnership with Asha Sadan NGO and Kurio Designs, which specializes in handcrafted and eco-friendly footwear and accessories launched a Pre-vocational Training Project in 2016. The Kurio design consultant chalked out a year-long curriculum to implement the training program for a group of 20 adolescent girls. The girls were trained in designing and manufacturing utility of accessories made from felt (fabric) as well as in sales, inventory management, accounting, customer management, setting up stalls at exhibitions as well as managing the stalls and accounts. The program achieved its objective of encouraging the girls to become entrepreneurs and set up their own businesses. It paved a way for the girls to form a cooperative and operate as a group business.
